Home Survival Guide Index
The home survival and emergency preparedness guide is a free
on line guide that can greatly enhance your and your loved ones chances of
survival during times of:
 |
Home disasters.
 |
When the bread earner of the family is out of work or
disabled for a period of time, it takes awhile to get help to pay bills, buy
food, keep things going. By having your own home survival kit ready,
you can use it to supplement the food bill, supply the things that there
will not be money for. Cut the cost of utilities, so what resources
you have will stretch even further. Even IF you qualify for
governmental assistance, it is always "A long time coming", usually at least
30 days or more. |
|
 |
When there is an urgent need to spend what money you have
on cars, homes, business or loved ones in crisis. A home survival kit
can get you through, until times get better. Having several months worth
of groceries on the shelves or in storage can greatly enhance your comfort
zone during trying times. |
 |
Other times that a home survival food storage can come in
handy is when someone else is suffering through a hardship, instead of taking
money from your immediate budget, you can share some of your survival food
with them. I do this quite a bit with our college age daughter and
grandson when there is a crunch in their finances, her husband is off work,
etc. I make up a "care package" of stored food and send it home with
her, I know they are eating at least for a week or longer, it gives her extra
to pay the bills. I try to give her things that can make a complete meal
like Spaghetti pasta with frozen hamburger, tomato sauce, tomato paste,
crushed tomatoes with basil/garlic. Canned vegetables, fruits.
Hamburger helper, macaroni and cheese, Au gratin potatoes, pudding, powdered
milk, canned milk, etc. It helps her out but doesn't hurt us by using
our limited income up. |

Natural Disasters. These type of disaster are sudden,
usually with very little warning. They can all disrupt your life and
make survival for any length of time a real life and death situation.
These disasters include:
 |
Blizzards, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Floods, Heat Waves,
Wild fires, Sun Spots, Meteorites, Earthquakes, Droughts, any and all
drastic climatic upheavals and natural disasters. |
 |
Even if your home is spared the initial disaster, the
utility services to it will most likely be out. The power lines down,
the phone lines, satellite relay stations, cable companies, water
departments, sewage/trash removal services, gas stations, grocery stores,
natural gas pipes all not working. From the aftermath of Katrina, it
is quite evident that some or all of these services can be "out" for very
long periods of time. |

sanitation how to make a fast toilet, "dry" clean your
clothes, bedding, etc., personal bathing can become an issue if you are not
prepared, there are people out there that are so concerned about getting clean
they can and will endanger everyone else's drinking water supply by "getting
themselves clean and pretty". Be on guard for these people, or you will
wake up one morning and find 10 gallons of water wasted on their shower and
hair washing. After they do it, it's already too late to stop them, the
water is down the drain. In an emergency situation a slightly damp wash
cloth should be all that is allowed, if the water for it comes from their
drinking water ration all the better. |
 |
Priorities have to be set by someone that knows what can
happen if they are NOT set. A detailed list of do's and don'ts will be
invaluable at that time. Make it NOW, while your thoughts are about you.
Don't wait until the heat of the moment to make serious decisions. see
survival priorities list. |
